Beyond the Basics: The NEEBC Connection Series 2008
Kathleen Casey-Kirschling, born one second after midnight on January 1, 1946, had her fifteen minutes of fame earlier this year when she became the first Baby Boomer to receive Social Security benefits. Though the media have moved on, Ms. Casey-Kirschling's story will be with us for decades to come, as America's "silver tsunami" washes ashore. Over the next twenty years, nearly 80 million Americans will become eligible for Social Security benefits, amounting to more than 10,000 people per day. Social Security is, of course, just one measure of the high water ahead; others include employer-sponsored retirement programs, retiree health benefits, Medicare, and more. NEEBC's 2008 Connection Series will engage members in a dialogue with experts and peers regarding the many twists and turns of retirement and workforce retention in the 21st century. Program attendees will return to their organizations with knowledge of concepts and ideas to assist with strategic decision-making around this important topic.
